On Monday 28th June, newly elected Senedd Member for Carmarthen West and Pembrokeshire South, Sam Kurtz MS, visited Evans Pharmacy in St Clears, to see first hand how they dealt with the Covid pandemic and how their services are changing.   Speaking following his visit to St Clears Pharmacy, Carmarthen West and South Pembrokeshire Senedd Member, Samuel Kurtz said: “I was delighted to meet Mo and the team at St Clears Pharmacy, it’s been fantastic to speak to the team and discuss the importance of community pharmacies.”

“Local high-street pharmacies play such an important role in supporting our communities. Throughout the pandemic, pharmacies just like Mo’s have gone above and beyond the call of duty in supporting local residents.”

Samuel finished: “Looking ahead, the hard work that high-street pharmacies do will undoubtedly continue. Their role in delivering COVID-19 booster jabs will be vital in ensuring that residents in Carmarthen West and South Pembrokeshire are fully protected against COVID-19, moving us one step closer to normality.”

Mo Nazemi of Evans Pharmacy said:

“We are grateful that Sam Kurtz took time out as a new Senedd Member to hear about our work. He grasped the way in which the community pharmacy network has the potential to take on a growing and changing role in providing health advice in a convenient high street setting. Community pharmacists are anchors of being health and local economies, and Sam understood the way in which they are an ever increasing first port of call.”

Rhodri Thomas, Associate Director for Contractor Engagement at Community Pharmacy Wales, said:

“The face and scope of community pharmacy is changing rapidly and Sam understood not only what we currently do but the potential of what can be delivered over the next five years as the scope of our provision is expanded. The pandemic has shown the professionalism of community pharmacists at its best and we will build on that reputation as the community pharmacy network matures even further.”
