If so, our Post-registration Foundation Pharmacist programme, delivered in partnership with Cardiff University and The Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS), has the perfect opportunity for you.
Programme overview
This programme is designed for early career pharmacists who are 18 to 24 months registered. It offers an opportunity to enhance your knowledge, skills, and professional behaviours. This will enable you to confidently practice in various pharmacy sectors at a generalist post-registration foundation level.
Upon successful completion of this programme, you will:
- Earn 80 postgraduate level credits from Cardiff University
- Obtain an Independent Prescribing (IP) Practice Certificate from Cardiff University
- Earn a Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) Post-registration foundation credential
Programme entry details
To take part in this exciting opportunity, pharmacists must enrol at Cardiff University by early December 2023, with the programme starting in January 2024.
The programme will continue to run until the new General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) initial education and training standards for pharmacists are fully implemented by July 2026.
Support and learning
Pharmacists will receive extensive support, including educational supervision, practice supervision, and guidance from a designated prescribing practitioner for the independent prescribing element. Additionally, you’ll have the opportunity to collaborate and build communities of practice with fellow peers, creating a network of support.
Programme components
The programme encompasses several essential components, including:
- Experiential learning within multidisciplinary teams
- Protected time in practice to develop evidence and engage in programme activities
- A blended teaching approach with Cardiff University
- Completion of postgraduate credit modules (80 credits)
- Attainment of an independent prescribing qualification
Successful completion of this programme paves the way for pharmacists to advance their careers through The Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) advanced practice pathway.
