Community Pharmacy Day at the Senedd

Community Pharmacy Day
As part of the CPW organised ‘Community Pharmacy Day’ held at the Senedd on Wednesday 10 November to promote the role of community pharmacy to Assembly Members, CPW held a photoshoot  to highlight the amount of medicines waste each year that is disposed of  through  community pharmacies.   The purpose of the event was to highlight how money could be saved from reducing the volume of medicine waste and how this money can be better invested in other community pharmacy based services.   slideshow

A reception was held on Wednesday night when the Health Minister – Edwina Hart - addressed community pharmacists and key stakeholders, highlighting the issues and stressing the value of the importance of community pharmacies to communities in Wales and their role in supporting patients and the wider NHS.

She said:
"I am pleased that community pharmacists are having a key role in our efforts to reduce the amount of wasted medicines in Wales. This not only ensure that we use our finite resources efficiently and effectively but also helps improve patient safety as it reduces the risk of out-of-date medicines or medicines not being used correctly.”
