AM & MP Visits

Rebecca Evans, AM for Mid & West Wales visited Boots Pharmacy in Llandrindod Wells to lend her support to the National Diabetes Public Health Campaign, run throughout the Community Pharmacy Network between the 13-25 July 2011 and to discuss the range of services that could be provided through community pharmacy.
Mrs Evans met with Boots pharmacists who told her of the importance of being able to identify the condition at an early stage and how easily, once identified, the condition was able to be managed. Mrs Evans was taken through the testing procedure and also took the tests herself to get a better feel of what was involved.
Mrs Evans was also interested in the issue of medicines waste, which had been highlighted to her at CPW’s Community Pharmacy Day event at the Sennedd in November 2010, and was keen to discuss the level of savings that it was felt could be achieved through a reduction in waste medicines. Further discussion centred on the range of services that it was felt could be offered through community pharmacy and the role it could play in a successful NHS service across Wales.
